Wintercup

After having a matchless start during the first weeks, this year's wintercup has become a success with it's matches played in the past 3 weeks. But all good things must come to an end. Therefore keep in mind, that it will end on Wednesday, January 20th. We'll deliver a wrap-up post as well as details about a new season once the cup has been concluded.

Nationscup

We are currently heading towards the end of the group phase. For the 3rd week, teams have time to pick their map and mode until Wednesday, January 20th, else it'll be set to the default week's mode and map: Capture the Flag on Abbey and Team Survivor on Casa.

If you miss this deadline. Teams have 24 hours AFTER the deadline to change (only) a forced map. Changes past that time will only be able with the opp's consentment.
To choose your gametype, please post it on match comments of your upcoming match and inform an admin by mail (nationscup at urban-zone.org) or via IRC.

As most of you have noticed, this week has been a busy one for the Urban Zone League, especially regarding the Nations Cup. We are proudly announcing that 17 nations are participating this year.
We'd like to give an additional shoutout to Mexico as this is their very first participation in an Urban Terror Nations Cup. For the full nations and captains list, please click on Read more....

The Captains have been granted Leader status on their respective Nations team, please add your players as soon as possible.
Furthermore, groups have been drawn and look as follows:

You may notice that we are already in the first week of this Nations Cup, please remember that this Competition differs from the regular Urban Zone events, therefore WildCards are making a comeback as well as forced matches! (*wink*)
Like in every Nations Cup, teams are free to play their wished maps and modes, as long as the modes are called "CTF, TS or BOMB" and the maps are listed in the official mappool. You can find the mappool in the rule section of the Cup as well as later in this news.
Teams have usually time until Sunday before their matchweek to pick their maps/gametypes and schedule their matches accordingly.
As we are already in the first matchweek, teams have time to pick their map and mode until tomorrow, Thursday, January 7th, else it'll be set to the default week's mode and map: Team Survivor on Austria and Capture the Flag on Turnpike.

Nations Cup XIX

It is now more than time to announce some essential information about the imminent Nations Cup.

Urban Terror's most awaited competition will be running with the following schedule:
  • December 07 - Announcement and captain applications launched
  • December 20 - End of Captain applications / Start of the captain's vote stage
  • January 1 - End of Voting stage, Captains announcement
  • January 3 - Groups published
  • January 10 - Start of the first match week

We will allow “logical” regional cooperations; examples include Scandinavia, Asia, etc. These coops will be judged by the admins as we don’t want, for example, Indian players to play in an Indian national team and an Asian team. We won’t be accepting coops between Italy and Norway. Aside from representing your nation you may also represent the country you currently reside in but we will require proof of residence in questionable case.

We’ve also revised our decision regarding captaincy votes: we will propose Captain votes on the Urban Zone Forums for the countries who don't have solid national community organizations. As you're used to, first we will accept captain applications and then hold a captain vote (according to the given schedule).

Captain Votes
If you want to be the captain of your nation or region send your application to nationscup@urban-zone.org by midnight of December 20th, 2015. Add the following information to the application: Auth name, UZ name, country, age, clan, and a comment. Things you could add to your application are real name, number of years you’ve played, and other relevant information which may help voters decide whether you're the right person to be their nation's captain.

If some people are motivated to help out organising the cup they are more than welcome to inform us. We would be glad to have some people able to: write match reports, referee some games, do GTV coverage, Shoutcast or help in any other way you could find useful.

Stay tuned!

Ban policy review

You may have noticed that some long standing bans at Urban Zone were removed. Well, not as much removed as shortened. After several discussions, we have decided to re-evaluate our ban policies and adjust them to our needs.

Bans now have a maximum duration wich will be 2 years. Players returning while banned will just be extending their ban durations by 2 years from the date they were caught countering their ban.

Banned players will receive the following penalties:

- multiple missing demos/screens - 12 months
- uploading fake demo - 12 months
- on the basis of a demo - 18 months
- screenshot with hack - 18 months
- other bans from reliable sources - 18 months
- returning while banned - 24 months from the RWB date.
- bans from other competitions - according to type of ban
- multiclanning - individual consideration
- behavior bans - individual consideration
- massive multiaccounting - permanent ban

All bans have been revised according to this table.

Signups open for season 25/18/10

It will be this time the 25th CTF season, the 18th TS season and the 10th BM season.

Like every season, the referees will be available to answer any questions via PM or on IRC #urban-zone. If you would like to assist us in the competition's organization, please contact an admin.

We will be going for a div format followed by a second edition of the Urban Terror Master Series.

Tune in!
