Seasons 10/3 Summary and Awards
Back to top Back to main Skip to menuSeasons 10 and 3 are now over and it is time to summarize them and hand out the awards. For the first time we used the new website for a full season with both leagues run from the same system and after a tougher start, things went well. It seems most of you finally got used to the new system and with each week we had less unscheduled matches. We still want to make the Urban Zone website more community-oriented and add other competitions and features – hang around to see what we got coming your way.
Let us have a look at the current season. As the activity in the community is dropping, we also saw a drop in team activity, also with teams that were rock-steady in previous seasons. That resulted in an unusual number of teams dropping out this season. On the other hand, we saw good fights and lots of competitiveness from the teams that played and we would like to say congratulations to all of them.
As we do every season, we would like to take the opportunity to thank some people who helped us this season. First of all, thanks to Kendle for all the time he invested in making this website as great as it is, optimizing and customizing it again and again. Second come both 3rd divisions who showed some balls and agreed to play a team from New Zealand in an US server. Then we need to say thanks to H1tm4n for making the awards for this season. AGBD for providing the storage space for all the Urban-Zone Downloads (we're burning 50gb/day). Taranis from octoris.com for sponsoring our gameservers, all the teams and individuals that lend us their servers for league matches, the guys at UrT TV who gtved matches throughout the season and picked up the ball after Frostig dropped it to finish the season with us with flying colors, and – last but not least - to our crew of referees, trainees, and demo staff for making this season possible. Thank you.
But now it is time for the awards. Feel free to check yours out HERE and put it on your website!

Sportsmanship Award: This season was a little strange when it comes to the sportsmanship award. So many people tried to scam one another that most of the things that stuck in our minds were the bad ones, not the good ones. On the other hand, the nice things we remember are pretty special and the deserve the award. Our TS winner is an Urban Zone showcase of sportsmanship – and they are taking away their zillionth sportsmanship award – team -=S&D=-. The CTF sportsmanship award goes to team /KnK// who agreed to replay a match even though their opponent tried to scam them.
Match of the Season: The best match of the season is always a tough pick because almost every match played is a thriller. This season we picked two matches which ended in perfect draws – with both maps ending with the same score. The TS award goes to teams -=S&D=- and Tehacjusz for their Week 7 thriller in Casa and Turnpike: www.urban-zone.org/ind...xture=2061, and the CTF award goes to teams sEx and D&F for their GTVed Algiers – Abbey duel: www.urban-zone.org/ind...xture=2189.
Most Improved: Each season brings a new team or two that stand out thanks to their teamplay and spirit. Although many teams showed interesting improvement (for example Intribe2) the most remarkable improvement in CTF was shown by team =(SiN)= who jumped up into Division 4 from the end of the table and managed to promote. Their TS counterpart is team owp., a group of young French players who jumped into Division 2 and cruised through it to a victory.
Golden Dildo Award: As we said before, this season had more teams that would deserve this award for … special behavior. But taking the cake was quite easy and obviously there is something in French water because both the CTF and TS awards go to French teams. The CTF one goes to team sB` for pretending their UZ official war was a pcw because they did not win. The TS award goes to team usLess. for their forfeiting attempts – for example rescheduling with an opponent and then not reporting the new time to get forfeit or changing match time without opponent's okay and then claiming forfeit. All we can say to both winners is – GROW THE HELL UP! A little fairplay wouldn’t kill you.
An honorary golden dildo goes out to all Division 1 dropouts – if you do not want to play, do not sign up. There are teams which would happily take your place and keep playing.
Golden Pacifier Award: The pacifier is our award for teams and people who… cannot stop complaining and whining and ranting and … being douches. And this season the award for both CTF and TS goes to team CHAOS for playing with a banned cheater and then flaming everyone when they were discovered.
And last but not least, a new award:
Best Gambler Award: Thanks to kendle's great work on the site we have a betting module. Bordo was the most successful on overall balance which is why he won this seasons award. Good job mate.
Our winners are free to pick up their awards HERE and link the banners to their websites. Congratulations. To everyone else - thank you for playing Seasons 10 and 3 of our leagues. We hope to see you in the next Seasons and in our Winter Cup which will be launched shortly. Also, as has become our tradition, we will hold an Allstar game or two – hang around the website and the league channel for more information.
