Cup System
A number of the best clans/players in Urban Terror have asked us to find a solution to the problem of top divisions dying out. In recent years many first divisions ended up with just 4 clans while they started with 8. The reason being that once the top spot was out of reach they gave up. This is why we have decided that the first 2 divisions will be merged into a cup system. This means 16 teams will play in 4 groups of 4 clans. In each group the first 2 teams qualify for playoffs and they play quarter final, semifinal and a bronze/golden final to win the cup! For division 3 and lower the old league system will stay in place and that means division 3 will be the division to qualify for the cup for the next season. We are still working on the exact rules for the cup.
We would like to stress that this is a trial, if it doesn’t work out we’ll revert back to the old system.

Urban Terror 4.2?
We tested our Urban Terror 4.2 during the Winter Cup and it was a success. However as most other competitions still want to stick with 4.1.1 will do the same at least for this season.

IMPORTANT:
ALL players in the leagues have to be registered.
Multiclanning within one competition is not allowed. However, players are allowed to play in one CTF team, another TS team, and a third team in BOMB. Do not – repeat: DO NOT – create accounts for your teammates. We are able to reference IP addresses and your team will not be allowed to sign up if we find one person faking accounts for others.
Because we also have clans competing from outside Europe we want clans to set the correct country flag or you may end up playing vs 300 ping opponents, so no funny stuff.
Also we expect all players to know the rules and abide by them, so (re)acquaint yourself with them, your teammates may be punished for your wrong doing, and nobody wants that! The newest rule update will be published ASAP.

RULE UPDATES:
There will be some, will be posted later.

SPONSORS:
Last season we had two gameserver sponsors, they have decided to continue doing this for which we are very grateful. Each will sponsor a league and the winner of division 1 will win a server that it can use until there is a new winner of that league. Last season’s winners aCe (CTF), Sexy Chicks (TS) and GoodTeam (BOMB) have already been using their servers for some time now and are very pleased. The sponors also provide us with extra servers so if you are in need of a (neutral) server for your Urban Zone wars, contact an admin and he/she will set you up. Remember, the sponsors provide the prizes to advertise their services, so if you are looking for a new server why not check them out. You help Urban Zone by doing so Smile

Our sponsor for the Bomb League prize is Turbo Bears a Russian-Speaking Multi-Gaming Organization (UrbanTerror, Xenotic, UT2004). They are donating a server for the bomb winner for one season. This is a pure community sponsor - one of you doing something for his fellow gamers.

PRIZES:
Last season because it was the first time a clan didn’t have to have played in the competition to qualify to win a prize. Now for a clan to qualify for prizes, it will have to have played in the prior season of the league in question. This is to encourage clans to stay together and play in Urban Zone. If the winner of the league does not qualify, the prize will move on to the next applicable clan.
If the sponsor withdraws the prize for whatever reason, Urban Zone is not obliged to provide a replacement. Furthermore if the winning clan publicly criticizes services provided by the sponsor, the prize will be immediately withdrawn. Remember, the sponsors provide the prizes to advertise their services.

Welcome back and have fun.

I hope the new top Division system will work, it doesn't sound bad. I think it'll prove soon! ... If the clans playing in it are willing to.
Maybe you can take a look at the basic Clanbase rules and transfer it?

We're not going to clone ClanBase this is really just a test, if it's successful we've already got plans to make it even more different from CB (in a good way).

Well, that sound very interesting at the one side. The other way I like the CB System and in my opinion it works very well, so I can hardly imagine a basicly similiar working system that's as good as ClanBase's is (or maybe better?).
But if you'll be successfull - well done, man!

raw, so did I. the thing is, the dropout rate in division 1 is too high, we want to try and see if changing things is going to help that. you sure can't be happy about forfeiting your way through the division

Hey eya,

thank you for that non-flame reply. I see that there is an issue and ofc, its up to you to decide how to solve it.
In a perfect world the old system was epic since everybody was fighting everyone so it was not luck to get at least second or thirdplaced because your eliminiation opponents were in a lucky order. Smile

I have doubts that the drop-out rate will change very much in the groups of 4. But it is worth a try . I think the only system to really tackle the drop-out problem would be the old CPL World tour system - and I personally hate that for its very non-committing approach. It is more a series of cups and not a league.

I would be more interested to see how the seeding works out for the cup / the groups of 4. But I assume there will not be much information regarding that. Also tie breaking rules should be clear and concise please :-).

Just one thing: If by any chance teams from the same country or for example b00bs and b00bs-dd end up in the same group, these matches should be played first in the calendar to avoid any suspicion of match throwing. So when you create the groups please look at that.

its not just div 1. But anyway, it's atleast worth a try!

This is not completely clear to me:

However as most other competitions still want to stick with 4.1.1 will do the same at least for this season.

Is it 4.1 only, 4.2 only, or are both allowed like in the wintercup?

4.1.1 only
